RCSW
Lends a
Hand
this Hari Raya

RCSW, was on hand at the Rotary Family Service Centre last Saturday, 15th November to distribute food rations to deserving families. This was in keeping with its commitment to provide "food aid" and RI's theme to "Lend a hand" to the less fortunate in our community.

A total of 13 families received rations made up of rice, eggs, sugar, salt, biscuits and instant noodles with Muslim beneficiaries receiving a little more because of the approaching Hari Raya festivities.

In keeping with the Family of Rotary theme, Rotarian Pek Tiong Boon brought along his 15 year old daughter Ying Sze, to be a part of the experience.

Our next food aid distribution will be on 10th January 2004.

RCSW was led by VP Ronnie Neo & spouse Vivien together with Rotarians Jeffrey Koh and Pek Tiong Boon. (Picture above: Our volunteers interviewing and distributing food rations at RFSC)                                                                                             *** by ronnie neo

Lending a Hand
to our New Generation

Seven students from the Interact Club of St. Theresa's Convent attended a vocational seminar on 13th November organized by Hon Treasurer Yeo Chuen Eng. Rotarian Yeo is a Private Banker with American Express Bank. Our students had a first hand insight into the workings of the financial world as well as various career opportunities associated with it. For school leavers, the students were encouraged to work hard to attain a minimum 'A' Level qualification as it is the entry to the bank's most junior position i.e. a junior clerk. Those aspiring to become Investment Specialists, Foreign Exchange Traders and Relationship Managers are encouraged to further their studies by acquiring preferred Degrees in either Accounting, Economics, Business or Engineering to qualify. The talk ended with a tour of the banking hall. They were shown the teller-counter operation, the bank's strong room where cash is locked up at the end of the day and briefed on security measures taken during and after operating hours to safeguard the banks' cash operations.

RCSW, on behalf of Service to New Generations / Vocational Service committee, would like to thank Hon Treasurer Chuen Eng and American Express Bank for this kind gesture / service to the community.
