RCSW Lends a Hand to our hardship cases |
|
|
In
the first half of this year, RCSW lent a hand to 10 families
who needed hardship assistance in our community. A total of $3,240
was disbursed. Some of the circumstances that needed our financial
support included:
|
|
|
-
2
single mothers with young children enrolled at the Ayer
Rajah Students Care Centre. Both have irregular income
ranging from $800 - $1,000. The parents requested for
financial subsidy / assistance so that they could keep
their children at the students care centre. RCSW made a
one time grant of $320 each to these 2 families.
-
7 children suffering from various
forms of cancer with family income ranging from Nil to
$1,000. They were referred mainly from the K.K. Women's
and Children's Hospital and are currently under the care
of the Assisi Children's Care Centre. Their request
centered particularly at the child's needful
nourishment. One family recently had their PUB supplies
terminated while another was reluctant to buy medication
for her child from the lack of funds. RCSW made a one
time grant of $300 each to the family of these children.
|
|
RCSW and the hardship committee
would like to thank club members and members of the
public for their generous contribution to the 'sunshine
box' as well as referring these cases. We certainly hope
that our efforts would bring a little sunshine to the
less fortunate within our community. Once again
THANK YOU !
Members responsible for vetting
hardship case applications from the community service
committee include: PDG Tan Geok Tian, PP Bay Yew Chuan
and Rtn Samuel Tso.
