"Celebrating Rotary's Centennial"
Five Centennial Bells to circle the globe
**
Rotary will be 100 in year 2005 ** |
 |
|
|
Similar
to the travelling
Olympic torch, five Rotary Centennial bells will be circulated to
clubs in every Rotary country, which started at the RI Convention in
Brisbane, Australia in June 2003. The bells' journey will symbolize
the internationality of Rotary as they crisscross the globe. One
bell will travel to the first 100 clubs to join Rotary
International, while the others will travel to the first Rotary Club
formed in each country of four regions, according to RI archives:
Asia and the Pacific; Latin America and the Caribbeans; Africa; and
Europe. Due to differences in shipping systems between countries in
Africa, individual bells will be delivered by the district governors
to the first clubs chartered in each country. The bells' journey
will end in Chicago in June 2005 when they ring in the start of the
centennial RI Convention.
In conjunction with World Understanding and Peace Day,
Singapore will be privileged to this centennial bell at the
Intercity meeting on 23rd February 2004. Where there will also be a
ceremony to mark this transit through Singapore.

Looking for a Job ? Job Vacancies to Fill ?
Try the Rotary - Rotaract Job Portal |
|
The
Rotary - Rotaract Job Portal was initiated during the
recent economic downturn when unemployment skyrocketed.
Getting a job was no longer something that could be taken
for granted. Seeking employment in today's market is a lot
harder compared to years ago.
There are thousands of
Rotarians in the region, many of them from time to time,
paying for advertisements in the media to recruit staff.
This Portal is designed to give the Rotarians another
venue for sourcing of good staff and for Rotaractors
another avenue to gain full or part-time employment.
This Portal will start
on a pilot basis in Singapore with Rotaractor Sylvia Huang
as its chairman.
(picture above left).
It has received strong endorsement from DG David Tong and
the District Committee and will be extended to the entire
District 3310 and beyond.
To take advantage of this Portal, Rotarians / Rotaractors
can log on to:
www.riracjobportal.com
