HIGHLIGHTS

News from the road .......................
the untold stories of our major project charity bike riders .....

Think you have quiet roads in Malaysia? Think again!  A 5am start proved to be a nightmare reaching the "Muar area"....  "we were caught in a 5am 'rush hour' traffic jam!"

Breakfast at 11am with chicken rice and red hot chilli to go along proved to be gut-challenging for Pieter later on in the journey. Our bike rider was fighting nausea and diahrroea. Fortunately a pit stop with an isotonic drink proved to be the old folk remedy that worked !!!

The next meal break consisted of fish ball noodles from a local road side hawker! Thankfully their stomachs agreed with the noodles.

The ride was uneventful until a spook broke from Joop's bicycle wheel. Fortunately 10km up the road, a friendly Malaysian neighbourhood bicycle repair shop was able to mend the damage with a new spook for only RM1.50, "a steal indeed" not to mention a good time for a breakdown and repair.

The most frightening experience came from the lighting bearing down on the duo when they were crossing the 2nd link bridge before arriving in Singapore and finally at Raffles Country Club.

A 261 kilometer journey that took them from
Malacca to Singapore in about 12-13 hours with time to spare !!!
Congratulations Pieter and Joop. Well done !!!
Also to the support vehicle of President Wei Lien and Daniel Boen, Thank you.
