|
Background: |
|
1. Makati University
Scholarship. RC Makati West and Nagoya Airport have an ongoing
programme to sponsor 10 Scholarships a year for students at the
University of Makati. These are students from very poor families
and would have had to drop out if not for a scholarship. Each
scholarship is US$200 which pays for tuition fees and stipend
for a year |
|
BOD has
resolved to donate 10 scholarships, totaling US$2000. Proposed
naming of the scholarship: "RCSW Scholarship" is still pending |
|
|
|
2. Gawad Kalinga
Project. RC Makati West is working with Gawad Kalinga - a
community development programme) to build homes for slum people
at the Hiyas Ng Maynila Community (292 families, population 900
of which 696 are children) in the Philippines. The programme
involves building of homes, sewage and drainage system, plumbing
facilities, a livelihood centre, multipurpose halls and a
clinic. RC Makati-West has already raised some US$30,000 from
various sister clubs to build 30 homes. They are targeting to
provide 300 homes for the project. A village will be named after
RCSW if we can raised US$20,000 for 20 homes. |
|
BOD has
resolved to contribute in part by sponsoring US $5000. |
