Besides the attraction of lunch and salmon yu sheng, we will be having a presentation on REIT by Dr Joseph Ooi from NUS.  He will trace the emergence and growth of the REIT markets in Asia, covering the main catalysts underpinning its development in Asia as well as major challenges.

Dr Joseph T.L. Ooi

Programme Director, MBA (Real Estate), Department of Real Estate,

National University of Singapore

 

About the Speaker:

 

Dr Joseph Ooi is the Director of the MBA with Specialization in Real Estate programme at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Besides serving as the Reviews Editor of the Journal of Property Investment and Finance, he sits on the editorial board of a number of international journals, such as the Pacific Rim Property Research Journal, Journal of Real

Estate Literature and Journal of Real Estate Practice & Education.

 

Joseph’s main research area is in corporate and securitized real estate. His research has been published widely in both academic journals and industry publications. Three of his academic papers won Outstanding Paper and Highly Commended awards. He has also received manuscript prizes for research papers presented at the European Real Estate Society conference (2003) and the American Real Estate Society’s annual meetings (2004 & 2005). In recognition of his research excellence, NUS awarded Joseph with the prestigious Young Researcher Award in 2005.

 

Joseph also received an Excellent Teacher Award from NUS in 2005. Currently, he teaches real estate development, investment and finance modules at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. He conducts regular workshops and in-house training sessions for organizations such as JTC Corporation, Singapore Land Authority, Singapore Tourism Board and Centrepoint Properties Ltd.

 

Prior to joining NUS, Joseph worked for a number of years in the real estate industry. He received his PhD in real estate finance from the Manchester University (UK).

Guest of Honour will be Mr. Chan Soo Sen, Minister of State, Ministry of Education & Ministry of Trade and Industry. The program for the evening is as follows:
