A
combination of sports frenzied enthusiasm and a flair for writing has
made his life choices simpler than most. Schooled in Journalism at the
Oklahoma City University’s School of Arts and Sciences, Department of
Mass Communication, he graduated cum laude and was invited to the Blue
Key National Honor Society, as well as Junior Marshall during the
university’s commencement ceremonies. He also became an award-winning
member of the American Advertising Federation’s National Student
Advertising Competition and a senior staff member of The Campus
newspaper and @2501 magazine.
Post-college, his career started with starting up a then new magazine
called Planet-e in Singapore, where he was involved from
conceptualization right through to becoming Acting Editor, before
leaving for more editorial opportunities in beautiful New Zealand, where
he worked for a variety of Internet lifestyle and sports magazines.
Returning
to Singapore, his career continued into contributions for 8-Days,
Sportscity.com, LycosAsia.com, Singapore Sports Council, SCV magazine,
and others, with coverage of the 2000 Sydney Olympics, the 2002 World
Cup in Korea/Japan, and the 34th Ryder Cup at the Belfry,
2002, and the first-ever Singapore Sports Summit being significant
contributions.
He joined
his first golf publication in Golf Asia in 2003 and left for Macau to
play the Macau Golf Club at the Westin – a truly remarkable experience
teeing off from atop the hotel right down to the spectacular finish
alongside the South China Sea at the 18th.
In 2004,
he joined Golf Vacations to experience a different (and thoroughly
enjoyable!) challenge. After all, he can’t complain much when travelling
and covering such God-given sites as the Le Touesrrok Golf Course in
Mauritius, The National Golf Club in Australia, Mission Hills in China,
Royal Colombo Golf Club in Sri Lanka and the Katemeya Heights Golf and
Country Club in Egypt.
On behalf
of the programme committee, we
look forward to
seeing
you this Thursday.
Yours in Rotary
