Membership Extension Month

16th August 2006

This month is Membership Extension month and we will be inducting our first new member this Rotary Year at the Club Assembly next week.  It’s still not too late to bring potential members to attend our club’s meeting and to introduce Rotary to them.  From the last issue of the DG’s newsletter, the membership figures show that we are no longer the 2nd largest club in Singapore.  All our involvement in membership development is essential for the continued good health for the club.

This Thursday.....

At your Lunch Meeting this Thursday 17th August 2006,

The Pines, 30 Stevens Road, Singapore 257840

Dear fellow Rotarians,

Please join us this Thursday for a presentation on

Reality of informal settlements in Metro Manila”

Ms Kaoko Takahashi, Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar

About the Speaker:

Ms Kaoka, is no stranger to our club having done a presentation last year on Shijunku, Tokyo.  She has participated in a few of club’s events during her one year stay in Singapore and is due to return to Japan after completing her Masters Programme at the National University of Singapore on the Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship.

Despite her hectic schedule and the need to complete her thesis submission, she has agreed to prepare a presentation to us to share with us her insights on the “slums” or what she has politely named as “informal settlements” in Metro Manila.

On behalf of the programme committee, we look forward to seeing you this Thursday.

Yours in Rotary

Michael Chua
