Club Assembly

23rd August 2006

District Governor, Dr Wu, will be coming to our club tomorrow night at 6:30pm. We will be having our club assembly as well and as usual, dinner for Rotarians and Spouses are paid for by the club.  So do remember to come for this evening meeting at The Pines.

It’s been nearly two months into the Rotary Year and the attendance figures has been very positive.  As Programme Director, it is indeed encouraging to see the speakers being engaged by the fairly “large” audience.  Do keep it up!

1.  Nomination for DGN

Dear Presidents & Secretaries,

Our Dist Conf. will be held in early Dec 2006 in Johore.  At the Conference, the candidate for DGN for RY 2009 / 2010 will be announced.

To allow for sufficient time for the necessary preparation, I am instructed to invite you and your Club to nominate, if any, a suitable candidate from your Club or a member of another Club in the District, so long you have obtained the concurrence of the Club where such candidate is a member, to be the DG for RY 2009 / 2010 (who must be a past president with at least 7 years' membership at the time of assuming office).  Your nomination must be supported by a resolution of your Club supporting the candidate.

A candidate for DG must have the following qualifications at the time of selection :

-         Rotarian in good standing ;

-         Rotarian maintaining full qualification of membership ;

-         Rotarian membership in a functioning club ;

      -     Rotarian qualification as Past President of Club ; and

      -     Rotarian's ability to fulfill duties of Governor.

Accordingly to MOP :

      -     The selection by the Clubs in a district of a governor-nominee should be conducted in a dignified, responsible manner in harmony with the principles of Rotary.

      -     Any Rotarian who engages in campaigning or canvassing for elective office in RI may be subject to disqualification from election to the office sought and possibly to future RI offices for such periods as the RI Board may determine.

-         Districts are urged to seek out and nominate for the office of governor the best qualified person through procedures not influenced by a system whereby the nomination is, by tradition, rotated among various groups of clubs or geographic areas.

Please submit your nomination in the attached format together with a completed FORM G : Governor-Nominee Data Form to PDG Datuk Stephen Timothy Wan Ullok, Chairman, District Nominating Committee, c/o 7500A Beach Road, #16-321, The Plaza, Singapore 199591 not later than 31 October 2006.

Best regards.
