A brief introduction to whole systems change

Flip Haagsma, Independent Consultant

 

 

Flip Haagsma is an independent consultant with 38 years of experience in the corporate world.  The last 25 years were spent on managing the environmental, health and safety issues for Shell.

 

 

During the last 10 years, living and working in Singapore, he realised that perfecting equipment and improving systems & procedures are not the only important elements to guarantee success in health and safety.

 

In his search for solutions in developing human capital, in his area of responsibility, he acquired additional skills and knowledge in the fields of Neuro Linguistic Programming, Spiral Dynamics and Ken Wilber’s Four Quadrants. This added more depth and breath to his work.

 

These skills, combined with his experience of working in a global setting with multicultural groups, have given him greater insight into human behaviour and corporate development. He has shared his knowledge through customised workshops and presentations with a variety of groups in and outside Shell and at international conferences.

 

Flip is a Chemical Engineer (B.Sc.) and is a certified Neuro Linguistic Programming Consultant and Trainer from the NLP University (USA), as well as a certified practitioner of the Cultural Transformation Tools (CTT).

 

Other qualifications include: NLP Practitioner of Advanced Timeline therapy and NLP Health Practitioner (NLP-U USA).

 

Rotary: A member of Rotary International for over 20 years and PP of RC of Bukit Timah.

1.  Nomination for DGN

Dear Presidents & Secretaries,

 

Our Dist Conf. will be held in early Dec 2006 in Johore.  At the Conference, the candidate for DGN for RY 2009 / 2010 will be announced.

 

To allow for sufficient time for the necessary preparation, I am instructed to invite you and your Club to nominate, if any, a suitable candidate from your Club or a member of another Club in the District, so long you have obtained the concurrence of the Club where such candidate is a member, to be the DG for RY 2009 / 2010 (who must be a past president with at least 7 years' membership at the time of assuming office).  Your nomination must be supported by a resolution of your Club supporting the candidate.

 

A candidate for DG must have the following qualifications at the time of selection :

 

-         Rotarian in good standing ;

-         Rotarian maintaining full qualification of membership ;

-         Rotarian membership in a functioning club ;

      -     Rotarian qualification as Past President of Club ; and

      -     Rotarian's ability to fulfill duties of Governor.

 

Accordingly to MOP :

 

      -     The selection by the Clubs in a district of a governor-nominee should be conducted in a dignified, responsible manner in harmony with the principles of Rotary.

 

      -     Any Rotarian who engages in campaigning or canvassing for elective office in RI may be subject to disqualification from election to the office sought and possibly to future RI offices for such periods as the RI Board may determine.

 

-         Districts are urged to seek out and nominate for the office of governor the best qualified person through procedures not influenced by a system whereby the nomination is, by tradition, rotated among various groups of clubs or geographic areas.

 

Please submit your nomination in the attached format together with a completed FORM G : Governor-Nominee Data Form to PDG Datuk Stephen Timothy Wan Ullok, Chairman, District Nominating Committee, c/o 7500A Beach Road, #16-321, The Plaza, Singapore 199591 not later than 31 October 2006.

2. Please be informed that the Rotary Club of Jurong Town will not be holding its' regular Tuesday lunch meeting on 12 Sept 2006.

 

What’s coming up:

 

 

1. 28 September 2006 – Golf Fellowship at Jurong Country Club.  Rtn George Lam will be arranging a golf fellowship at JCC on behalf of the Club Service Committee.  The cost for the event is $130 per head and will cover the Green Fees, Caddy, and Lunch at the Golfer’s Terrace.  Tee-off will be done after 12 noon and dinner will be at The Pines for the regular evening meeting.  Please inform Director Jeffrey Koh via email of your attendance.
